Petition to Abolish Abortion in the Commonwealth of Virginia

WHEREAS,

the sovereign God of the universe commands the establishment of biblical justice saying "Do not pervert justice or show partiality...Follow justice and justice alone..." (Deuteronomy 16:19-20), and "It is not good to be partial to the wicked and so deprive the innocent of justice" (Proverbs 18:5), and,

WHEREAS,

the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution affirms that "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws," and,

WHEREAS,

 the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia reads that, “all men are by nature equally free and independent and have certain inherent rights…namely, the enjoyment of life and liberty,” and that “no person shall be deprived of his life, liberty, or property without due process of law,” and,

WHEREAS,

 approximately 43 preborn children are premeditatively murdered every day in the Commonwealth of Virginia–an approximate of nearly 16,000 preborn Virginian children killed every year–along with an unknown number of preborn children murdered through the use of abortifacient drugs or destroyed during in vitro fertilization procedures, and,

WHEREAS,

nothing in the Constitution of the United States provides for a right to abortion of preborn human beings, and the concept of the federal judiciary compelling states to allow the practice of prenatal homicide runs completely contrary to the text and principles of the Constitution of the United States and of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and,

So be it now therefore, we the undersigned believe:

That innocent human life, created in the image of God, should be equally protected under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia from the beginning of biological development at the moment of fertilization unto natural death, and,

That to ensure the right to life and equal protection of the laws, all preborn children should be recognized as persons and protected with the same laws against murder as those laws protecting all other born human persons, and,

That all Virginia state legislators, judges, and executive officers are bound by solemn oath before God and man to provide the equal protection of the laws to all human beings in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and,

That any and all federal statutes, regulations, treaties, orders, and court rulings which would deprive an preborn child of the right to life or prohibit the equal protection of such right under the law should be treated as void and of no effect under the Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution, and,

That the Code of Virginia should be amended to abolish abortion immediately and completely without compromise or regulatory exceptions within the Commonwealth of Virginia, and,

Therefore, be it so resolved that,

we the undersigned petition our elected and appointed officials, including, but not limited to, county and city Sheriffs, Commonwealth Attorneys, District Court and Circuit Court Judges, Virginia Supreme Court Justices, State Senators, State Delegates, Attorney General Jason Miyares, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears, and Governor Glenn Youngkin to interpose themselves and exercise their authority as appropriate in their respective jurisdictions to stop the murder of innocent preborn children by abortion and establish God-honoring justice without partiality or compromise for all preborn human beings through all Constitutionally granted legislative, judicial, or executive means possible.
